Step 1
Choose Your Readers
LinguaReaders offers two complete series — Marc et Julie for FSL classrooms and Jason & Janet for ESL classrooms — each with 37 thematic graded readers across three levels. Browse the program outlines to find the readers that match your current unit themes.
A
Browse by Level
Each series has three levels — Beginner (Level A), Intermediate (Level B), and Advanced (Level C) — each with its own cast of characters and settings. Students progress naturally as they follow characters they already know.
B
Match to Your Unit
Each reader is built around real classroom themes — family, school, seasons, shopping, travel, and more. Use the FSL or ESL program outlines to find the reader that best fits your current vocabulary and grammar targets.
C
Plan Your Frequency
Decide how often during your unit you'd like students to engage with the reader — once a week, every few days, or daily. The readers are flexible enough to fit any pacing.
Step 2
Present the Reader
Each reader is available as an interactive audio flipbook with multi-voice narration. There are several ways to bring them into your lessons:
📱
Whole-Class Presentation
Project the flipbook on a SMART Board or screen and read or listen as a class. A great option for introducing the text and modelling pronunciation together.
💻
Independent or Small Group Reading
Sign out laptops or tablets and have students read or listen individually, in pairs, or in small groups — each at their own pace with audio support.
🏠
Homework
Assign the reader for homework before a literature circles lesson or follow-up activity. Students can listen and read along on any device.
Step 3
Follow Up with Activities
After reading, choose from a range of activities to reinforce vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension. Every reader comes with a complete set of teacher resources:
📝
Worksheets — vocabulary and grammar exercises that reinforce the language targets of each reader.
📋
Lesson Plans & Lesson Ideas — practical suggestions for how to structure your lesson around each reader.
📊
Assessments — oral, listening, written, and reading assessments to evaluate student comprehension and language progress.
💬
Lingua Literature Circles — a complete discussion program to round off your unit (see below).
Step 4
Run a Lingua Literature Circles Lesson
Literature Circles are a structured discussion method that gives students a supported, low-pressure opportunity to speak in the target language. Students are divided into groups of 3 or 4 and assigned roles that guide the conversation.
🗣️
Leader
Keeps the discussion flowing and ensures everyone stays on task.
⏱️
Time Keeper
Reminds the group how much time is left for discussion.
🚦
Referee
Reminds students to speak in the target language throughout.
📦
Distributor
Picks up and hands in group materials — laptops, question sheets, etc.
📢
Spokesperson
Answers questions on behalf of the group during any class-wide discussion.

Step 5
Evaluate Your Students
Every component of LinguaReaders is designed to support assessment at multiple points in your unit — not just at the end.
✓
Reading — students read the material before the discussion. Reading comprehension questions let you assess understanding immediately.
✓
Speaking — the Literature Circles discussion gives every student a structured opportunity to speak in the target language, assessed using the included rubric.
✓
Listening — the audio flipbooks support listening assessment, and comprehension questions can be used to evaluate how well students understood the narration.
✓
Writing & Grammar — worksheets target the specific vocabulary and grammar covered in each reader, giving you a written assessment component for every unit.
